Festive food hampers for vulnerable Brent residents
Staff from Brent Housing Partnership (BHP) are spreading the Christmas cheer by delivering food hampers to vulnerable residents containing some tasty festive treats as well as staple food items to keep them well nourished over the Christmas period.
The hampers have been sponsored by BHP's contractors who alongside BHP officers volunteered their time to help put 200 hampers together in a bid to give something back to the community, and support those most in need over the Christmas period.
They are being personally delivered across the borough to BHP's vulnerable residents who will be able to tuck into some Christmas treats such as mince pies and chocolates. The hampers also contain essential food items to ensure residents have enough food supplies over the holiday period when it can be even more difficult to go out and buy food.
Christina Byrne, BHP Community Leadership Manager, said: "Christmas is a time of year for thinking of those in our community who may be on their own. The holiday period can be a very lonely time and we wanted to reach out to vulnerable residents and make a difference. Without the generosity of our contractors and staff it would not have been possible to carry out such a wonderful and rewarding project. It was a fantastic effort all round so I would like thank all those who helped us out.
"On behalf of BHP and our contractors, we would like to wish all our residents a very happy and joyful Christmas."
Local resident Jenny Halpert from Wembley (pictured right) said: "I have lived here for 52 years and I've looked after this estate. I have also been the treasurer for the residents association for over 20 years. I want to say that you so very much, I'm absolutely delighted to receive this hamper and thank you to BHP for all you have done for us."
The following BHP contractors donated time and cash towards the Christmas hampers:
- Wates Living Space
- Mattisons Scaffolding Ltd
- Bridgegap Ltd
- Capital Property Services
- Atelier Hallimond
- Francis Henry, Daniels Estate Agents
