Celebration at the Groves as great grandmother scores a century
Forty residents from the Bush Grove Residents’ Association in Kingsbury threw a surprise birthday party for one of their neighbours, Megan Butcher, who turned 100.
It was Bucks Fizz all round at the special celebration while guests, including her daughter Joyce Thompson, tucked into a buffet and some tasty cake. Megan was also left royally pleased with a telegram and card that she had received from The Queen.
Welsh born Megan moved to Stonebridge when she was 15 and has spent most of her life in Brent. The former nurse then moved to Kingsbury where she has lived for 45 years.
Reflecting on her 100 years she said: “I’ve lived a great life and I’ve had the opportunity to travel to some amazing places such as Egypt, Australia and Hong Kong.”
