Brent Housing Partnership (BHP) gets backing for new council homes in Kilburn

Brent Housing Partnership (BHP) has been given permission to build new affordable homes in Kilburn.

Brent Council approved the application to build 24 new council homes within the Kilburn Square Estate and will involve the demolition of the existing car park and the construction of a four 6 storey residential building comprising of 24 homes.

This will include:

• Twelve 1 bedroom homes
• Eight 2 bedroom homes
• Four 3 bedroom homes.

The new-build, situated between Kilburn High Road (east), Brondesbury Road (south), Algernon Road (west) and Victoria Road (north) will also include some three bed wheelchair accessible properties.

This follows the completion of seven new council homes (the first in 30 years) in June, in Kingsbury, North Wembley and Welsh Harp.

Cllr Harbi Farah, Brent Council's Cabinet Member for Housing, said: "We know that our residents in Brent across a wide spectrum of incomes and household types want decent and affordable housing which is why I'm very pleased to see the approval of this application for new homes in Kilburn.

"It is absolutely key to listen to our residents and respond to their needs and we know that affordable housing is a top resident priority. We'll continue working hard to ensure we meet this priority."
